Clients and potential clients can size attorneys up in seconds. When clients first meet you, they are asking themselves whether they can trust their counsel and whether they can respect this person. Psychologists refer to these dimensions as warmth and competence respectively, and ideally you want to be perceived as having both. Interestingly, most people, especially in a professional context, believe that competence is the more important factor. After all, they want to prove that they are smart and talented enough to handle your business. But in fact warmth, or trustworthiness, is the most important factor in how clients will ultimately evaluate a professional. It is more crucial to our survival to know whether a person deserves our trust. This concept makes sense considering that in cavemen days it was more important to figure out if your fellow man was going to kill you than if he was competent enough to build a good fire. While competence is highly valued, it is evaluated only after trust is established.

Trust, integrity, hard work, loyalty and likeability. These traits form the core of my legal practice.
My grandparents owned a small luncheonette in the Bronx, New York in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Throughout their childhood, my father and uncle worked at the luncheonette everyday after school and on weekends in order to help out the family business. My grandparents never verbally asked my father and uncle to work - it was simply expected and their way of life.
In those days, loyalty towards family and close friends came first – well before making money. The irony was that since my father worked, what little amount lined his pockets, he would graciously share with his family and friends. They too had little means and did what they could to survive and make ends meet.
The Glantz’s were likeable, trustworthy and dependable - they built a good brand, they were trusted and loyal people. The luncheonette symbolized these characteristics. To this day, my father approaches life, family and business with the very same approach that guided him through sweeping the floors and cleaning toilets at the luncheonette and it is my honor to carry forward the Glantz legacy and brand.
I mentioned my father’s upbringing because he and I are made from the same mold and share a passion for entrepreneurship, kindness towards people whether they are clients, friends or adversaries. And, we also share a strong work ethic and loyalty towards people.
I also find the Glantz story helpful when providing counsel to family-owned businesses or other closely-held companies. I relate to both fathers and to sons to both employers and employees, to both purchasers and sellers. This gives me a unique perspective and ability to see both sides of a matter and I firmly believe this approach is the best counsel any attorney can provide to their client - the ability to remove any emotion and to be objective when giving advice while simultaneously being a zealous advocate to an adversary. To me, this is the key to being a successful attorney.
My background also gives me guidance towards navigating through lawsuits, enabling me to convince clients that sometimes no matter how angry the client might be, settlement and resolution is the path to least resistance. Of course there are times where a war-time consigliere is necessary – I am not naïve, I am practical!
FORMATION OF GLANTZ LAW GROUP
In 2006, I was approached by a dear friend who I have known since I was a young kid. He had mentioned that his college roommate was looking for an in-house counsel for his family-run business and thought I would be perfectly suited for the position. I was ultimately hired as General Counsel for the company and the families other businesses and investments.
I learned many things from this family. To be honest, I still do! Ultimately, in mid-2012, with the same loyalty that I had showed them for the six years prior, my then employer and now first client, was generous enough to support me in establishing Glantz Law Group. I am, and will forever be eternally grateful to both my childhood friend and my first client for trusting me in both capacities.
We are stern and stubborn when we advocate. We also do not take “no” for an answer. However, there are ways to achieve objectives on behalf of clients while maintaining our own likeability and integrity. If you are not in the market for that type of attorney, then perhaps we am not the right fit for you. And, that is okay.
Often times, we work closely with larger law firms on litigation and/or transactional matters. Where the larger law firm has a conflict of interest and needs to outsource the work to a non-conflicted attorney, they turn to Glantz Law Group. Likewise, when a matter is outside the scope of the services provided by the firm, we will work closely with larger law firms overseeing the larger law firm’s handling of the matter, making sure the firm’s work product meets the client’s standards, ensuring that the larger firm’s invoices and disbursements are accurate, and interfacing as the client’s outsourced General Counsel. We are a unique firm in that we not only provide legal advice but we also try to assist our clients with sourcing private equity and/or debt for start-up clients.

Mr. Glantz received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan concentrating in both Political Science and Communications in 1996 and his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School in 2000. He has been in private practice ever since. While in law school, Mr. Glantz clerked for The Honorable Arthur D. Spatt, U.S. District Judge, Eastern District of New York where he was published in a Memorandum for Hon.
